BEGINNINGS IN THE GLASS INDUSTRY

After watching the changing scenario in the aluminium fabrication industry in South Africa as a whole, and in the Eastern Cape in particular, we decided in 2013 to set up our own factory for manufacturing aluminium windows, doors, etc. in East London, our home base. We had postponed this venture for many years because many of the customers for our Rainbow Glass products were aluminium fabricators and we did not want to come out in competition against them.

But, during the last 10 years or so, we had been seeing an influx of standardized aluminium made-ups coming into the market and as a result many of the small fabricators went out of business. We lost our glass customers in this segment and had to do something to make up for it. We decided to open our own factory for aluminium fabrication and put our own glass into them. That is how Brilliant Aluminium (Pty) was born. Today we manufacture various types of windows and doors, and distribute them through our Rainbow Glass Wholesaler network.

START UP

Brilliant Aluminium (Pty) Ltd was registered in 2013 and started operations in 2014 out of rented premises in Woodbrook, East London. Modern machinery, good factory set up, staff trained by ourselves to focus on quality workmanship, and our excellent quality-control systems helped us compete from day one against the best and leading players in the market. Our established distribution infrastructure in Rainbow Glass Wholesalers and our established customer base in the building materials sector helped us get a strong foot-hold in the hinterland of East London within a short time.

In 2015 we bought our own large factory premises at 17 Settlers Way and continued operations without interruption. Spacious, airy and bright, we are proud of our factory. We will be able to grow our product range and the size of our operations from here. We can increase volumes, and expand our distribution network without much effort to our other Rainbow Glass outlets in Mthatha, Port Elizabeth and George, when we decide to do so.

We are Members of AAAMSA and have been tested, approved and certified by them. We do not compromise on the quality of our raw materials or the quality of our workmanship. This has been recognized from the beginning by our customers and our competitors. We have established a good reputation in the market and our marketing and sales is driven by word-of-mouth recommendation by our ever-growing customer base. We have not done much advertising or promotion effort, but put all that money and effort into supplying a very good product range. We are BRILLIANT in that. Our customers will vouch for us.
